Golfing on Fripp Island is one of Fripp Island’s best assets.  Fripp Island is very fortunate to have two championship golf courses.  Both courses have been ranked by Golf Digest’s Places to Play Guide.  Both courses have five sets of tees that include our young beginners the Wee-Links tees.  Players of all skill levels can enjoy both of  Fripp Island’s courses.

Fripp Island Golf Courses are designed by two of the best names in golf,  George Cobb and Davis Love III.

Fripp Island’s first golf course was designed by the legendary George Cobb in 1964.  He is no stranger to most of the courses where major championships have been played.  Augusta National is one of Mr. Cobb’s many courses where he used his talents of design to produce a beautiful and challenging course.  At Ocean Point Golf Links course, better known as “The Point” by the locals,  you will enjoy breath taking views of the Atlantic Ocean from many holes on this course.  Views from holes 9th, 10th, 14th, 15th, 16th and 18th will compete with any golf course. The Point is well balanced with nature.  Mr. Cobb tried to work with the wind coming off of the Atlantic Ocean but still making it challenging so that you could really appreciate your golfing adventure.  Ocean Point Golf Links has been recognized also by Golf Digest as a Golden Links Award Winner receiving a 4 STAR rating. The front nine and the back nine all finish up with the most amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Fripp Island’s second golf course is known as  Ocean Creek Golf Club.  The designers of this course which sits on the marsh of Fripp Island were PGA Champion Davis Love III and Paul Crowley.  This was Davis Love’s first signature golf course and Paul Cowley is an award winning Golf Course Architect.  With these two great minds together how could we not have another Golf Digest’s Places to Play. “The Creek” known by the locals was completed in 1995.  It has wonderful views massive views of the salt water marshes, fresh water lagoons where there is a least one huge alligator in every lagoon.  “The Creek” is a tough course but for sure you will enjoy the challenge and the views as “The Creek” was named as one of the 10 Best New Courses in America by Golf Digest along with a 4.5 STAR rating. This course is the location where scenes from Forrest Gump and Disney’s The Jungle Book were filmed.  There is ample of wildlife on this course from, Ospreys, Snowy Egrets, Blue Herons are just a few birds you will see along  alligators in the lagoons or banks of the course.

Fripp Island was designated as a Wildlife Sanctuary with more than 175 species of birds.  Along with the birds you will find deer, feral cats, raccoons and who knows what else. Other amenities on the island are miles of bike and walking paths, tennis complex, ten pools (which count the kiddie pools), 8 different places to fill those hungry pains and a couple of shops to fill whatever need there is. Homes are worked in the plans of both golf courses and there are beautiful homes for sale with beautiful views on both courses.
